ZIMBABWE PARLIAMENT NOW A CRIME SCENE AS MPs TAKE BRIBES TO SAVE MNANGAGWA

2

The Parliament of Zimbabwe is now being called a crime scene. This is because many Members of Parliament (MPs) are not doing their jobs for the people. They are now doing things for themselves. They are fighting each other to get money, land, and other gifts for supporting President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Mnangagwa is now in trouble because there are talks that he might be removed from power.

Removing a president from power is called impeachment. It happens when a president is not doing his job or is breaking the law. There are many reports saying that some MPs had a secret meeting in Mabelreign, Harare. At this meeting, they were given free land stands. These stands were a bribe. They were given to the MPs so they do not vote for Mnangagwa to be removed.

This information became public after the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works confirmed that 70 land stands were given to MPs just two days ago. The land was given in three places. In Killarney, Goromonzi 15 stands were given. In Penrose, Zvimba another 15 stands were given. The biggest number, 40 stands, was given in Mabelreign, Harare.

The Ministry said giving land to MPs is not something new. They said this started in 2013. They call it a non-monetary benefit. That means instead of giving the MPs money, they give them land. They say this is to help the MPs have places to stay.

They also said MPs from past years also got land. MPs from the 8th Parliament (2013 to 2018), 9th Parliament (2018 to 2023), and now the 10th Parliament (2023 to now) have all been given land. In total, Parliament has been given land across many places. Goromonzi got 188 stands. Bulawayo got 49 stands. Chiredzi got 12. Kadoma got 9. Beit Bridge got 5.

The Ministry gave this information in a press statement on 9 April 2025. They said the 70 stands given this week are part of the same housing plan. They say war veterans, women, youths, and civil servants are also part of this plan. But many people are not happy.

Job Sikhala and the National Democratic Working Group said that Parliament is no longer for the people. It is now a crime scene. He said MPs are working to protect Mnangagwa and not the people who voted for them.

Many Zimbabweans are angry. They say the timing of these land gifts is suspicious. Why are the MPs getting land now, when Mnangagwa is about to be impeached? People believe these stands are bribes and not normal benefits.

People are also upset because most ordinary Zimbabweans cannot afford land. They do not have places to live. Some live in poor areas, with no water or electricity. But the MPs, who already earn good salaries, are being given free land. This feels very unfair to the people.

Because of this, people are now losing trust in Parliament. They feel that MPs are only working for themselves. They are not thinking about the poor or the youth. They are only thinking about saving one man, Mnangagwa.

Zimbabweans are waiting to see what happens next. Will the MPs vote to protect the president because they got land? Or will they vote to remove him and do what is right for the country?

What is happening in Parliament is not just about land. It is about corruption. It is about power. It is about the future of Zimbabwe. And right now, it is the people who are suffering while the leaders get rich.

  1. These so-called “activists” always twist facts to paint a negative picture of ZANU PF. If Mnangagwa was really being impeached, we would’ve heard it from Parliament, not Twitter. Job Sikhala is just bitter he’s no longer in Parliament. MPs deserve housing support like any other civil servant. Let’s stop pretending this is corruption when it’s standard practice.

  2. This is just another opposition smear campaign. The land allocations were part of a long-standing benefits scheme, nothing illegal about it. Stop creating drama where there is none. Why are you crying foul when the land is being given to MPs from all parties? Benefits have always been part of public service worldwide. Nothing new here.
