ZANU PF IS SCARED BECAUSE CHANGE IS COMING

The fight for democracy in Zimbabwe is not over. Every day, ZANU PF proves that it is not ready to give up power. It is afraid of the people. It is afraid of the truth. The arrest of Job Sikhala and 39 others in Penhalonga is just another sign that ZANU PF is scared. They are scared of those who want freedom. They are scared of people like us — activists who speak up.
I am one of those people. I speak against injustice. I write because I want Zimbabwe to be free. I want a future where we are not arrested for talking. I want a country where police don’t beat people for having meetings. But ZANU PF does not want that. They want to control everything. They want us to live in fear.
Job Sikhala, a brave activist, was arrested with his team during a peaceful meeting of the National Democratic Working Group. This group is not a political party. It is a platform for people to talk about Zimbabwe’s future. But the government saw this meeting as a threat. Why? Because they know people are waking up. Because they know we want change. So instead of listening, they sent police.
What happened next was terrible. Secret agents in a Toyota Hilux came first. They watched the meeting, then left. Then another car came. It had no number plates. It was full of officers from CID Law and Order. After that, riot police with AK-47s arrived in trucks. They beat people. They kicked people. They arrested people. This is what ZANU PF does. They bring guns to peaceful meetings.
Sikhala and the others were beaten and thrown into police trucks in the rain. They were taken to Penhalonga Police Station. The floor was dirty. There were no proper seats. Later, they were moved to Mutare. But no one told them why they were arrested. No proper charges were made. It was just punishment for wanting change.
One of the most painful parts of this story is what happened to Engineer Joelson Mugari. He was still held in police custody. He was very sick and needed medication. But the police refused to give it to him. Activists had to fight to get him taken to hospital. This is how cruel ZANU PF has become. They don’t care if people die. All they care about is staying in power.
A police officer even pointed a gun at Dr. Wurayayi Zembe. He could have shot him. But Dr. Zembe stayed calm. This is the kind of fear we live under. Another officer refused to shake Sikhala’s hand. He said, “Ndakarombaka ini. Ko mhepo dzangu dzikazokubata?” That means he thinks Sikhala is cursed. This is not leadership. This is fear and hate.
They said the activists broke the law. They said they needed police clearance. But this was a private meeting. ZANU PF holds meetings all the time without clearance. So why are activists treated like criminals? The answer is simple. ZANU PF is scared. They are scared of people who are not afraid to speak.
But we will not stop. I will not stop writing. I will not stop speaking. Zimbabwe is waking up. The people are tired. Tired of poverty. Tired of violence. Tired of lies. We want a new Zimbabwe. One that is free. One that respects human rights.
ZANU PF’s time is running out. They can arrest us. They can beat us. But they will never kill our spirit. The world is watching. And we will keep fighting until Zimbabwe is free.
Arresting and assaulting people for discussing the future of their country is proof that this government fears the truth. We must resist this oppression. The cruelty shown to Engineer Mugari and Dr. Zembe is shameful. Real leadership doesn’t beat people in the rain or point guns at elders. You’ve spoken for the voiceless. ZANU PF’s brutality is not strength — it’s fear. The people are rising, and this time, we won’t back down.
Job Sikhala and his crew are not activists, they are troublemakers who provoke instability under the cover of “peaceful meetings.” The police did what they had to do. No one is above the law. If you hold unsanctioned gatherings, expect consequences. Zimbabwe must maintain peace and order, not allow chaos disguised as democracy. This piece is full of exaggeration and emotional spin. The government is protecting national security — not suppressing freedom.
This is a heartbreaking but powerful piece. Peaceful citizens are being hunted for simply dreaming of a better Zimbabwe. We cannot stay silent.
